Architects can call on Silkstone's experience for advice on the practicalities of a scheme at an early stage. Designing buildings with no regard to ground conditions can cause significant problems for a construction project at a later date and some early investigation even in the form of a desk study and walkover is advisable before the creative talents of the architect are put to work. A London based practice narrowly avoided an expensive redesign when they consulted Silkstone about the proposed layout of a building they were designing; we discovered a Victorian culvert directly under one corner of the proposed building during our site walkover, which was not recorded on any of the plans in the Architects possession.
